Hello
I’m Twyla Terry-McCarrell, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)—but please, just call me Twyla. I consider it an honor to walk alongside individuals who are navigating life’s challenges.

Difficult experiences often bring feelings of anxiety, depression, grief, PTSD, or trauma held in the body. My role is to provide a safe, supportive space where you don’t have to face those struggles alone. Together, we’ll work toward healing, growth, and a greater sense of well-being—at a pace that feels right for you.

If you’re ready to begin or continue your journey toward a more balanced and hopeful life, you can schedule with me as I’m here to help.
My Story
Although I was born and raised in Oklahoma, I’ve called Texas home for nearly 30 years—and now I’m grateful to consider both states my home. My path to becoming a therapist wasn’t a straight line. I first earned my B.S. in Computer Science from Langston University and built a long career in the corporate world. Yet over time, I felt a deeper calling: to walk alongside others in their healing journeys. That calling led me to pursue my M.A. in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary and ultimately become a Licensed Professional Counselor.
Since then, I’ve gained experience providing counseling in a wide range of settings—private practice, clinics, internships, volunteer work, and specialized contexts such as individual, couples, family, group, forensic, faith-based, and personal injury counseling. I am EMDR Trained (EMDR-tr) and a Certified Brainspotting Therapist. Additionally, I have received training in Polyvagal Theory and Internal Family Systems (IFS), approaches that help clients safely process trauma and reconnect with themselves.

What I’ve seen time and again is that healing requires courage. Reaching out for help is not easy—it takes time, energy, finances, and the willingness to be vulnerable, even when the weight feels heavy. But you don’t have to carry it alone. My joy and purpose as a therapist are to come alongside you, offering compassion, guidance, and proven tools to help you move toward the life you desire.

If you’ve made it this far, it may be safe to assume you’re ready for change—or at least curious about what change could look like. I invite you to take the next step and schedule your complimentary 15-minute consultation. Together, we can begin your journey toward greater healing and well-being.
